The volleyball star is making her return to the local circuit.
In a post, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) announced on Thursday, August 13, that Filipina athlete Jaja Santiago, also known by her Japanese name Minowa Sachi, is making her comeback official.
This, as the athlete, who visited the GAB Central Office in Makati City, was able to secure her professional licencse from the board to play in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
In the league, Jaja is expected to play as part of the Creamline Cool Smashers in the upcoming Invitational tournament, with her participation having been announced by the team in the past week.
In her meeting with GAB Chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera and ProSports Division Officer‑in‑Charge Dr. Oliver Evangelista, she was said to have shared how much she missed playing in the country and conveyed her gratitude and excitement to once again compete before Filipino volleyball fans.
The 30-year-old was a former varsity player of the National University (NU) in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
Later on, she would join the professional volleyball circle and became one of the most prominent players in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL), where she played for the Foton Tornadoes across four seasons.
She also was part of the Japan SV.League and after her stint in the PVL, will begin playing for the San Francisco Signal in the League One Volleyball (LOVB) in its inaugural season in 2027.
