The new program further expands private sector participation.
Last Thursday, July 30, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday launched the new Adopt-A-School Program (ASP) Platform during the Visayas leg of the national ASP roadshow.
This new digital gateway will facilitate corporate sponsors, civic groups, and private donors’ assistance to public schools through transparent project matching, easier tracking of donations, and direct access to tax incentives under Republic Act No. 8525 or the Adopt-A-School Act of 1998 and regulations of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The education chief furthered by stating that the department aims to translate concrete investments into building more classrooms, strengthening teachers, and ensuring equal access to education for every student.
DepEd highlighted its expanded ASP Menu of Investments designed to align partners’ support with DepEd’s 5-Point Reform Agenda to improve learning outcomes and the recommendations of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2).
In the said menu, the priorities that require private sector funding have been prioritized, including classroom and facility construction, safe school initiatives, and work immersion programs for Senior High School students.
Relevant agencies such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) also presented their respective investment menus to encourage cross-sector collaboration.
Meanwhile, the Visayas caravan also showcased a whole-of-government approach, bringing together leaders and representatives from key national agencies and local governments, along with private institutions, corporate foundations, non-government organizations (NGOs), academia, cooperatives, and civic organizations.
Currently, DepEd has a total of 192 active partner organizations supporting its programs nationwide.
The 2026 ASP caravan then be brought to Mindanao and Luzon to solicit support from business leaders, civic groups, and other local stakeholders nationwide.
In addition, coinciding with the launch of the new ASP microsite and the continuation of the national caravan, DepEd also invited more private companies, non-profit organizations, and civil society organizations to review priority investment areas and join the initiative.
