She has bowed out of the series.
In a post on Instagram on Thursday, July 30, Kapuso star Shuvee Etrata penned a lengthy letter as she officially signed off from the top-rating GMA primetime series The Master Cutter.
The Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition alum portrayed the character of Tonet in the series, who met her demise after getting entangled in a complicated arc about getting nearer to the truth about Janine (Gerica Laude), who is presented as the daughter of Atoy (Dingdong Dantes) and Elaine (Max Collins).
However, the character would meet her untimely death when she gets cornered by Red (Paolo Contis) at a mall, together with Martina (Max Eigenmann), who had plot the said scheme all along.
Tonet and Martina would get into a fight at one corner of the mall, where she would get stabbed by a sharp metal. Despite efforts to revive her, it was already too late for Atoy to save her.
In her post, Shuvee said that Tonet Mendoza is officially “signing off.”
“Thank you so much sa lahat ng sumubaybay at nagmahal sa journey ni Tonet. Napakalaking bagay po sa akin ng proyektong ‘to. Dito po ako natuto, nag-grow, at mas nakilala ko ang sarili ko bilang artista,” wrote the Kapuso star.
She added, “Daghan kaayo kog nakat-unan, and I’ll carry all of it with me.“
Etrata also expressed her thanks to the entire team, starting with lead star, the Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, who she described as one that glued together the entire cast. “Hindi mo lang kami tinahi-tahi sa show, pati off-cam… you really sewed us together. HAHAHAHA!“
To her on-screen elder brother Ketchup Eusebio, whom she called her “Manong,” she said: “Sobrang swerte ko po na nakatrabaho kita. Ang dami kong natutunan sa’yo. Daghang salamat, Kuya!“
To other members of the cast, that also includes Rio Locsin, Jo Berry, Sienna Stevens, Gerica Laude, Charlie Fleming, Prince Carlos, Anthony Constantino and more, Shuvee conveyed: “Thank you sa lahat ng tawanan, kulitan, at memories. Kayo ang nagbigay ng saya at kulay sa set. I’m going to miss you all so much.“
Moreover, the actress also expressed her gratitude to the production team, creatives, her management at Sparkle, and series director Dominic Zapata for the “trust, patience, and guidance.”
“Thank you for believing in me and for giving me the chance to bring Tonet to life,” ehe added.
Lastly, to viewers, she asked them to continue supporting the show even though her character is no longer in the program. “[Sa] lahat ng nanonood, THANK YOU! Lagi niyo kaming ginagawang #1! Lalo na sa mga Bisaya diha, daghang salamat kaayo!
“Tonet became such a big part of me, and I’ll always be grateful that I got to tell her story. Maraming salamat. Daghang salamat. See you next time,” Shuvee ended her letter.
Before this, Dingdong had already shared a post that detailed his observations on Shuvee.
“Seeing what she did with Tonette just proves she’s got so much more to offer as an actress,” he stressed in a portion of the said post.
