It is a song the blends both alternative and indie-pop genres.
On Thursday, July 30, OPM hitmaker Maki and singer-actor James Reid unveiled their collaborative single entitled Luck.
The new track was co-written by Maki with some of the top international songwriters and producers such as Gaby Ramirez, Pontus Kalm, Greg Shilling, and Shintaro Yasuda — whose past collaborations include no less than Ariana Grande, BTS, LE SSERAFIM, aespa, and the Nation’s Girl Group BINI.
According to ABS-CBN, in its press release, the song blends alternative and indie-pop influences and compares falling in love to placing a bet, “where there are no guarantees, only the hope that taking the risk will be worth it.“
The new song is also the “continuation” of Maki’s pink era that started with habangbuhay pansamantala, which was dropped last May.
The OPM hitmaker is known for his slate of hit singles led by Dilaw, Namumula, and Kahel Na Langit, which are all part of his Kolorcoaster album that earned massive success among the public.
He also surpassed 1 billion all-time streams on music streaming platform Spotify and recently brought his Kolorcoaster tour to Singapore and Indonesia, where he also appeared on the hit comedy program Lapor Pak!, last June.
Meanwhile, James also has his own catalog of songs that features his signature blend of alternative pop, R&B, and modern OPM.
Some of the Multimedia Prince’s past hits include Huwag Ka Nang Humirit and Randomantic, which saw a resurgence in popularity on social media.
In early 2026, he released the single entitled Richest Man Alive and is currently top-billing the ABS-CBN primetime series Someone, Someday as Jordan, alongside Kathryn Bernardo’s Billy and Maja Salvador’s Abi.
