This allows the public to have a more seamless experience when opening an account, as well as for the bank to verify their identification.
Last July 3, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and digital banking company GoTyme Bank inked a deal for the integration of the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) system.
Through the NIDAS, which the PSA encourages more organizations and institutions to use, allows them to safely verify identities through the National ID.
For GoTyme, it will use the said system to perform real-time identity verification for users who use the National ID when an account via its mobile application or established kiosks nationwide.
Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, said in a statement, “As one of the country’s leading digital banks, GoTyme has demonstrated how technology can make financial services more accessible and responsive to the needs of Filipinos.“
“Through this integration, GoTyme strengthens its ability to provide a seamless and secure customer experience, while contributing to the broader goal of expanding financial inclusion,” she added.
Meanwhile, GoTyme has also announced that it has officially crossed the 10-million customer mark, while more than half of its monthly transactions used the National ID to open an account.
“What PSA has built with the National ID isn’t just a government project. It is nation-building,” said GoTyme Bank Chief Strategy Officer Shern Whey Teo. “Our responsibility is to make sure that key opens doors: to a bank account, to savings, to credit, and ultimately, to greater financial freedom.”
For her part, GoTyme Bank Chief Information Officer Maria Paz Gilda Puno shared, “Our decision to partner with the PSA has been deliberate and intentional because we wanted to reduce onboarding friction and at the same time, make our own boarding more secure and fast for our customers.“
As of October 31, 2025, the PhilSys said that the total number of PSNs or permanent identification numbers in the National ID generated have reached 90,290,024 — representing 80 percent of the country’s population.
Registration centers have also been set up in various locations nationwide.
Meanwhile, GoTyme Bank aside from the PVC printed card, it also recognizes various National ID formats, including digital and paper, when opening an account.
