The couple has parted ways.
On Friday, July 10, news broke that Korean superstars Lee Jong-suk and IU have broken up after dating for four years.
Their respective agencies, ACE FACTORY and EDAM Entertainment, have also commented on the matter and confirmed the news.
The companies told, “It is true that they broke up,” although, they are reportedly still in good terms as they remain “good colleagues” despite the break-up.
It was also stated in a report by The Korea Herald that the decision to end their four-year-long romance stemmed from their increasingly busy schedules that led to them spending less time together.
The two personalities are two of the biggest stars in South Korea and first announced their relationship to the public in December 2022.
At that time, Lee’s previous agency noted: “Actor Lee Jong Suk and IU recently progressed from being close acquaintances into being a couple, and they are maintaining a serious relationship.“
Both stars became acquainted with each other through their hosting stint in the SBS weekly music countdown show Inkigayo in 2012.
IU debuted as a soloist in 2008 and is known for her songs like Good Day, Palette, BBIBBI, Blueming, eight, Celebrity, and Lilac, among many others.
She has also made her mark in acting after starring in several hit Korean drama series such as Dream High, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, My Mister, Hotel del Luna, and most recently, Perfect Crown with Byeon Woo-seok.
Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk made his debut in 2005 and is known for his roles in various TV shows and movies, such as Secret Garden, High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged, I Can Hear Your Voice, No Breathing, Doctor Stranger, Pinocchio, W: Two Worlds, and While You Were Sleeping.
