In a statement issued on Monday, June 29, Korean music label YG Entertainment announced that Treasure member Kim Junkyu will be going on a hiatus.
According to them, the K-pop star, who had just wrapped up broadcast promotions for the mini-album New Wav with the rest of the band, has been experiencing “poor health” during that period.
“Despite experiencing poor health, Junkyu has continued to do his best for the team’s activities,” the company said in its statement, as translated by the entertainment website Soompi.
It continued, “However, based on the artist’s own opinion and the judgment of those around him that he requires focused stability and rest for the time being, it has been decided that he will temporarily halt his activities and take a period of rest.”
As such, the 25-year-old idol will be missing schedules of the team, including the shoot of the performance video for their B-side track entitled Danger.
“We kindly ask for fans’ generous understanding,” conveyed YG, adding that they will, together with other members, continue to support Junkyu throughout his recovery period.
Treasure recently returned with their mini-album New Wav, which includes the song If I as its lead single. The said track earned the band their first-ever music show trophy when it won first place in Mnet’s M Countdown last June 11.
