It was a lighthearted on-air mistake that has since given netizens a laugh online.
On Thursday, June 18, comedian and podcaster Baus Rufo appeared as a special guest co-host on the country’s longest-running morning show, Unang Hirit, on GMA Network.
The host of the popular comedy podcast Dogshow Divas was paired with the frequent pinch-hitter on the said digital program, Miss Earth Philippines 2025 Joy Barcoma, and were assigned to do remote broadcast from San Mateo, Rizal.
It was a usual a segment of the program, with the hosts bonding with students in the school they visited.
However, split-second blip occurred in the middle of it when Baus accidentally mentioned Kapamilya in his spiels, which is the term for ABS-CBN viewere, when he was actually meant to say Kapuso, which is the moniker of GMA.
Despite beint able to correct himself soon after, netizens have already caught on to what he said and posted the said moment online.
Unang Hirit‘s social media team also posted the video on its pages, quipping that “it’s giving onboarding and exit interview in one day.”
On his social media page, Baus also embraced what he did and jokingly practiced saying Kapuso repeatedly.
Other networks have since joined on the viral moment, with ABS-CBN’s social media team posting a shoutout to Baus on Facebook.
Meanwhile, TV5 uploaded a picture of Bimby Aquino, who has long been tagged as the celebrity whom shares similarities with, and requested, in jest, to also be greeted next by the comedian-podcaster.
Well, good news for everyone—Baus was not fired. He shared in a separate post that he has since been invited to come back to Unang Hirit on Friday, June 19 to do another segment.
