Continuing her winning streak from the previous tournament that she won.
Fresh from her victory in the Birmingham Open last week, Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala returned to the grass court on Tuesday, June 9.
This time, she moved onto the HSBC Queen’s Club Championships in London, United Kingdom, where she made her debut in the Round of 32.
Challenging the current world number 33 in her first match at the said tournament is Chinese player Zhang Shuai, who is presently world number 64.
Eala showed her might on the court as she was able to quickly bounce back from the early lead of Zhang and took the first set win. Onto the next set, the Pinay star clung onto that and remained compose, despite facing a pushback from her Chinese opponent.
In the end, Alex won with the final scoreboard reading 6-3, 6-2.
With this win, she is set to have a rematch with her friend, American netter Iva Jovic, in the Round of 16.
It will be their first play after the Roland Garros French Open in late May, where Jovic took the win against Eala, 4-6, 2-6, in the first round of the said WTA 1000 tournament.
All eyes are now on Alex on whether she would break that and continue her momentum, which she started through her stint in Birmingham.
