On Friday, ABS-CBN announced the latest expansion of the company’s reach as two of its programs will be carried by the global streaming platform Rakuten Viki.
The Filipino adaptation of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, which stars Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia, and Carlo Aquino, and both seasons of the hit teen romance series He’s Into Her, topbilled by Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, can be accessed through the service across the Americas, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
The shows are available with English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French subtitles, which ABS-CBN said will help them “reach even more international viewers through Viki’s community-driven subtitling initiative powered by volunteers worldwide.“
Furthermore, the tie-up will also bolster the network’s growing international footprint, as Rakuten Viki is considered one of the world’s leading streaming platforms for Asian entertainment with over 120 million registered users.
The company said the partnership was made possible through its International Sales Division and is part of the company goal to grow its presence across international streaming, broadcast, and digital platforms.
At present, 50,000 hours of content have already been sold to more than 50 countries worldwide.
Apart from Rakuten Viki, Kapamilya content have also been sold internationally to platforms like Amazon MX Player in India and linear broadcast networks in the Middle East and Africa, among otehrs.
In addition to all that, ABS-CBN’s primary YouTube channel, the ABS-CBN Entertainment channel, is currently the most subscribed media and entertainment YouTube channel in Southeast Asia with 54.8 million subscribers.
