Making it the largest retail network in the country to participate in the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP).
Last May 22, Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the exclusive licensor of the 7-Eleven brand of convenience stores in the Philippines, inked an an electricity supply agreement with ACEN RES, the retail electricity arm of the Ayala group.
The said deal, which was enable by the RAP, will see the 1,450 stores that the company operates across Metro Manila, Batangas, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija switch to 100% renewable energy.
Under the RAP, electricity consumers to aggregate or cluster their demand to access retail electricity supply.
Moreover, businesses with multiple sites, such as 7-Eleven Philippines, can directly negotiate supply arrangements with licensed retail electricity suppliers like ACEN RES to transition to renewable energy.
7-Eleven Philippines has also become the largest retail network in the country to participate in the RAP, with more stores said to be moving to renewable energy as the company continues to expand nationwide.
Jose Victor Paterno, Chairman of Philippine Seven Corporation, noted: “Our collaboration with ACEN RES is a cornerstone of Philippine Seven Corporation’s growth and sustainability strategy.”
He also noted that the recent global energy disruptions have highlighted the vulnerability of local businesses, and by shifting to indigenous renewable sources, he said, the company is “shielding” its operations from market volatility.
“Beyond resilience, we are aligning ourselves with an increasingly eco-conscious consumer base. This transition doesn’t just green our power—it invites our customers to join us on a meaningful journey toward a sustainable future.”
Meanwhile, ACEN President and CEO Eric Francia emphasized the company’s goal of making the shift to renewable energy “simple and accessible for business.”
“Having 7-Eleven Philippines join the RAP marks an important milestone in advancing the country’s transition to a more sustainable and energy-secure future,” he added.
ACEN RES is the retail electricity unit of ACEN, which is then under the Ayala Group. Its electricity is sourced from a portfolio of solar, wind, and geothermal plants across the Philippines.
As per the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on the competitive retail electricity market, ACEN RES is the country’s leading provider of renewable energy supply to businesses.
It also has a significant presence in Australia, Vietnam, India, and Lao PDR, along with strategic investments in Indonesia and other markets — letting company have over 7 GW of attributable renewable energy capacity spanning projects already in operation.
Meanwhile, Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC) was formed in 1984 and has since expanded its footprint to over 4,500 stores across the country.
Meanwhile, to mark the partnership, ACEN RES awarded 7-Eleven Philippines its “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, recognizing companies that have chosen to power their operations with 100% renewable energy.
