lt is a gripping suspense drama series.
Veteran actor Choi Min-sik — known for his poetry also in Lucy and Old Boy — and rising actor Choi Hyun-wook from Twenty Five Twenty One, Weak Hero Class 1 are teaming up in the new Netflix series Notes from the Last Row.
The story follows Heo Mun-oh (Choi Min-sik), who is described as a “grumpy literature professor and failed novelist,” who discovers untapped genius of a mysterious student seated in the last row of his class, Lee Kang (Choi Hyun-wook).
In the teaser trailer, Mun-oh is seen staring at an open notebook and unable to write a single word.
It takes place twenty years after he published his debut novel and since then, he has not written anything as he pursued the quiet life of a literature professor.
But things will change for him once he encounters Lee Kang, whose work will amaze Mun-oh, leading him to tell the student that has real talent.
The trailer then cuts to Kang on stage receiving an award, thanking Mun-oh in his acceptance speech.
As the two appear to grow closer, the dynamics between them will get abruptly when a disturbed Mun-oh asks whether Kang’s story is true.
The series is under the direction of Kim Gyu-tae, who is known for The Trunk; Our Blues; and It’s Okay, That’s Love, Notes from the Last Row is set to premiere globally on Netflix starting June 26.
