With the Department of Transportation (DOTr) ordering the swift construction of the station.
According to Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, the right-of-way (ROW) acquisition for the entire North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) alignment in Angeles City has hit 90-pct.
“90% na po ang ating right-of-way. So, at least makikita niyo po ngayon na umuusad ang ating proyekto dito,” he said.
In line with this, the DOTr is working with the Angeles City local government unit (LGU) to resolve the remaining issues in terms of the ROW.
“Kaya nga kinakausap ko sila, ang Italthai kanina, ang contractor natin, na we need this by 2028. That’s the agreement,” added Lopez, who directed the faster construction timeframe for the line to benefit commuters in the soonest possible time.
In his inspection, Lopez was joined by Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo Lazatin, Transportation Senior Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor, Assistant Secretary for Right of Way Acquisition for Rail and Road IC Calaguas at Assistant Secretary for Railways Eduardo Danilo Macabulos.
For Lazatin, once the project is completed and operational, the NSCR will be a great help for commuters.
It will also provide good opportunities to their area, such as the growth of businesses, tourism, and investments.
“Ito po ay malaking tulong po para sa siyudad natin, lalong lalo na kung aabot sa Clark, dahil sa airport po yan. At malaking tulong ito na maibibigay sa siyudad ng Angeles, hindi lang po sa siyudad ng Angeles, kundi po sa distrito, sa probinsya dahil kapag bumibiyahe po sila sa Maynila, yun pong traffic eh mababawasan,” the lawmaker said.
The partial operation of the NSCR from Valenzuela City to Malolos, Bulacan segment is targeted to begin in December 2027. As for the Malolos to Clark segment, it is targeted to be operational in October 2028.
Once the construction of the 147-km NSCR System is completed, it will shorten the four-hour trip from Clark, Pampanga to Calamba, Laguna to just two hours.
