ABS-CBN executive Laurenti Dyogi shares how BINI received invitation to join Summer Sonic Japan

Fresh from their headline-grabbing successful debut at the Coachella Music Festival last April.

In a video on his TikTok account, ABS-CBN’s TV Production and Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi shared how the Nation’s Girl Group BINI was invited to the Summer Sonic Japan.

The octet is part of the eighth wave of performers that will perform at the events in Osaka and Tokyo this August.

The former will take place on August 14 at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park in Osaka, while the latter happens at the ZOZOMarine Stadium & Makuhari Messe in Tokyo on August 16.

Dyogi revealed that the team received the offer after “the first or second week of Coachella” through their agent.

We received the offer from our agent na sinasabi ngang we were invited to do Summer Sonic so buti na lang na when we receive that, we have time pa to make adjustments with our world tour kasi swak siya sa schedule namin,” the Kapamilya executive said.

However, logistics wise, it would be a tricky matter for the entire team, as the Summer Sonic festival performance dates will fall right at the middle of the North America leg of BINI’s Signals world tour, which will kick off this June.

Medyo tricky yung pag-adjust para makatawid from the US papunta sa Japan then back to the US,” he noted.

While it will be challenging for them, Dyogi admitted that it is an offer that they could not resist, especially with the offer being for two cities.

It’s also a market that we know na it’s very difficult to penetrate and to be invited sa Summer Sonic, wow!” furthered the executive.

Hence, the next two months will be taxing for the girls, as they have to juggle with their commitments locally, the tour, and the Japanese festival

Itong darating na dalawang buwan, medyo madugo ito for the girls. We have a lot of preparations to do for Summer Sonic, for the world tour, and we’ll see everybody sa May 10 for ASAP experience that would be their first big public appearance (after Coachella) in the Philippines.”

Apart from BINI, also part of the said event are the P-pop Kings SB19, who will perform on August 15 in Tokyo.

Both teams are set to join the lineup comprising of the likes of Blackpink’s Jennie, The Strokes, Bump of Chicken, FKA Twigs, Kasabian, Keshi, David Byrne, Alex Warren, Steve Lacy, L’Arc-en-Ciel, Jamiroquai, LE SSERAFIM, TWS, Pentatonix, December 10, Real McCoy, Crystal Waters, and more.

The team will be embarking on their Signals concert world tour, which will begin with the two-night show at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City this June and the one-day Cebu concert on July 11.

August alone will be a fully-packed month for them, as they will be in the United States and Canada with shows confirmed in Honolulu, Hawaii; Los Angeles, California; Robert Park, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Diego, California; Vancouver, B.C.; Calgary, Alberta; Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Toronto, Ontario; Brooklyn, New York.

To cap the month, they will also have a show in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

That will be followed in early September by other European stops in Rome, Italy; Paris, France; London, U.K.; Zurich, Switzerland; and Düsseldorf, Germany.

Lastly, there will also be concerts in Singapore on October 25 and Taipei, Taiwan on November 15.
