Just before her next tournament.
According to the latest global rankings posted by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles category, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has achieved another improvement in her standings.
This week, the 20-year-old jump two places from her previous number 44 finish before the Madrid Open, placing 42nd in the new leaderboard.
The incremental increase comes after her stint in the above-mentioned WTA 1000 tournament in Spain, where she competed in both singles and doubles (alongside Zeynep Sönmez).
However, she did not make it past the round of 64 in the singles after losing to Belgian player Elise Mertens, while she and Sönmez fell to the formidable tandem of Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova in the doubles’ round of 16.
The action will continue for Eala at the Rome Open, another WTA 1000, in Italy, which will then begin on May 5.
Meanwhile, her listing in the Parma Ladies Open, which will happen from May 11 to 16, will depend on how she will fare in Rome.
The athlete will then move to France for the French Open, which is set to start on May 18 and will run until June 7.
The clay court calendar of the tennis champ started slow for her, as she made early exits in both the Ladies Linz Open in Austria and Stuttgart.
