He is going straight to the live finals of the reality show.
On Saturday, April 25 (UK time), Filipino singer Matty Juniosa returned to the Britain’s Got Talent stage for the live semi-finals round of the ITV reality show.
The former Idol Philippines contestant took the breaths of the audience and judges with his powerful rendition of Aerosmith’s rock ballad Dream On.
After the performance, the jury composed of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI, gave a standing ovation for his cover.
In her comment, Alesha exclaimed, “You are just effortlessly sensational! Singing with every ‘ooh’, it just pours out of you so easily. Those high notes are just so sweet and it’s so lovely to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.”
“That was a stellar masterclass on how to deliver a class A vocal. Well done,” she added.
With the audiences still going wild, Amanda asked them first to take a seat and listen to the important thing that she has got to say.
“So, I said to the producers tonight: ‘If I don’t press my golden buzzer, what happens?’,” said the longtime BGT judge. “And they said, ‘It goes to the audience.’ But I said, ‘I’m not gonna get to the audience.'”
Within a split second, Holden stood and pressed the “golden buzzer” in front of her, which automatically granted Juniosa a spot in the grand finals.
As cheers erupted inside the hall, KSI shared his simple comment, calling Matty “fantastic,” while Simon echoed Alesha’s comment and added that the Pinoy singer’s range is just “incredible.”
Reacting to just what happened, Matty said, “I just feel so crazy right now. (This) life is not real,” he quipped. “I got more followers!”
During the live semifinals, Matty’s family members were also flown in from the Philippines to personally show their support to the singer.
It is the second time that he was given the golden buzzer as during the audition round, he also earned one from Cowell after performing the song Purple Rain by Prince.
Juniosa was one of the contestants in the first season of Idol Philippines in 2019, where he ended his journey after being part of the Top 12. Later on, he would form the group i-Dolls with fellow participants Lucas Garcia and Enzo Almario.
Together, they would join another program, Your Face Sounds Faniliar in 2021 before disbanding a year later.
