The team said that that she will not be running for public office.
In a statement issued on their social media platforms, G Productions, the company co-founded by celebrity couple Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli clarified a now-viral joke made by the singer-actress.
It happened at a recent fun run event that she graced in Pasay City, where during her speech onstage, she jokingly asked people to “vote” for her in the elections—one that has since caught the attention of numerous netizens, who insinuate that she might possibly run in the next polls.
In response, the company said, “We have seen a few clips making the rounds suggesting that Sarah is gearing up for the next election, or at least testing the waters.”
“For context: the video came from a live event where, as part of her closing spiel, Sarah playfully asked the audience to vote for her in the next election,” G Productions underscored. “It was a lighthearted moment meant purely for fun and crowd interaction.“
They also affirmed that Sarah is not interested in joining politics, as she is “exactly where she wants to be,” specifically being on stage, doing what she loves, and inspiring people through her talent and artistry.
“We kindly ask everyone to enjoy the moment for what it was and resist adding any political color to an onstage joke,” the company concluded their statement.
At present, Sarah is occupied with numerous projects, such as her brand endorsements and serving as a headliner in music festivals, such as the recent Wonderful Moments Music Festival last February.
