Fresh from the success of their recent digital series.
During the Next Fan Takeover event of streaming service Viva One at the New Frontier Theater on Saturday, April 18, production company Studio Viva announced the upcoming project of Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene.
The two, who recently top-billed the series Golden Scenery Of Tomorrow, will be doing another adaptation as they have been officially named as the lead stars of the upcoming local remake of the Thai horror-comedy movie Pee Mak.
The said film, which hit theaters in 2013, originally starred Thai superstars Mario Maurer and Mai Davika Hoorne, will see them portray the lead characters.
“Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene are ready to light up the BIG SCREEN like never before — handa na sila!” wrote Studio Viva in its post.
They continued, “The record-breaking Thai blockbuster comes to life in a whole new way…
PEE MAK — now reimagined for the Philippines.”
At present, other details have yet to be revealed, including other cast members, as well as the target playdate for the movie.
Prior to naming Wilbert and Bea, Viva Entertainment originally confirmed in 2025 that Alden Richards and Julia Barretto were supposed to star in the adaptation, which was given the tentative local title of Mak-mak.
Since then, Richards have moved to other projects, primarily with his home network GMA, while Julia is set to host a reality show under Viva.
