On Wednesday, April 15, through its Anti-Fake News Desk (AFND), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) submitted an endorsement of its narrative to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

It concerns three Facebook accounts, who have allegedly spreading fabricated information regarding the health condition of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The PCO identified them as “Iloy Bugris: The Queen of Revelations,” “Rigondola Ping,” and “Crage Anderpal.”

The first one was said to have done live broadcasts claiming that the President was critically ill, while alsl allegedly soliciting money from viewers through GCash and BPI account details pinned on screen. It also presented a purported medical document which PCO said was fabricated.

As for the second account, it was cited for posting manipulated images depicting the President in a distressed physical condition, which the PCO stating the images as altered and did not reflect any real event.

The third page allegedly published a graphic claiming an official confirmation of a serious health condition of the President.

This follows a similar complaint that previously endorsed on April 7, 2026, against the Facebook page “Malasakit News Pilipinas” for allegedly spreading false reports related to an energy emergency. This page was deleted the following day.

DOJ Spokesperson Atty. Raphael Niccolo Martinez explained that the endorsement of narrative is not yet a formal complaint.

Just to be clear, hindi po ito formal complaint. Ang mangyayari po dito, knowing that the DOJ cannot be the formal complainant, the PCO endorsed it to us,” Martirez said, adding that the DOJ will then endorse it to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for further checking of the facts and evidence if this warrants the filing of cases.

The PCO said the complaints are part of ongoing efforts to address the spread of disinformation online.

In line with this, the PCO signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the DOJ and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) aimed at strengthening coordination in investigating and prosecuting online disinformation.

The PCO also warned that the dissemination of false information may be punishable under Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code and provisions of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, particularly when committed online.

The Anti-Fake News Desk, meanwhile, will continue to monitor and refer for investigation and prosecution online content found to be deliberately spreading false information.

Previously, three independent press organizations have condemned blatant attempts to undermine journalists’ credibility and mislead the public for vested interests amid the spreading of the said false narrative on the President’s health.

These were the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC), Malacañang Cameramen Association (MCA), and the Presidential Photojournalists Association (PPA), who have made separate statements.

“[H]indi gawain ng responsableng mamamahayag ang magbintang, gumawa ng kwento at magkalat ng walang basehang tsismis,” noted the Palace official, who added that the Malacañang reporters even urged the public to remain critical and always verify the sources of the information they received.

Earlier, in a joint communication, the PCO and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) also required Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to implement stronger measures to prevent the spread of false information.

In response, META expressed support for the government and its initiatives to combat misinformation, fake news, cyberbullying, phishing, and financial fraud.
