On Thursday, March 26, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced its own network adjustments due to the “changing conditions affecting global aviation.”
“We understand that this may affect travel plans and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. PAL is working to minimize disruption and will continue to review these routes as conditions improve,” it told in its statement.
On its international network, it has suspended services connecting Mactan-Cebu to and ftom Guam and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
Affected flight codes are PR120 and PR121 (Cebu-Guam) that will be canceled from April 16 until further notice. Alongside that PAL also shelved its PR587 and PR588 service (Cebu-Ho Chi Minh) from April 19 until further notice (with the exception of May 1, 3, 24 and 31).
Meanwhile, some domestic services will also be suspended from May onwards.
First on the list are PR2875 and PR2876 (Clark-Siargao) from May 4 until further notice, with PR2893 and PR2894 (Cebu-Ozamiz) following suit from May 5 until further notice. PR2668 and PR2669 (Cebu-Calbayog) from May 6 until further notice are also affected.
Passengers with affected bookings have been told to avail any of the options offered by the airline, such as Rebooking, that will move them to alternative routing, in the same cabin class with available space within 60 days, without penalties; Travel Credits that will convert tickets into credits for future use; and Full refunds in accordance with applicable policies.
“PAL’s customer service teams are available to assist through our website, contact center, and ticket offices,” it also said.
Meanwhile, cargo operations on these routes are also affected, with the flag carrier now working with logistics partners to explore alternative routing options to support the continued movement of goods.
For updates and assistance, passengers may visit their official website or contact their customer service channels.
Earlier this week, budget carrier Cebu Pacific also announced its own slate of route suspensions and frequency reductions on a number of destinations due to the ongoing crunch in the global oil supply.
