As many people closely follow developments in the region, Marcos noted that the conflict has implications not only for the international community but also for Filipinos, the economy, and the daily lives of families.
“We are likewise saddened and concerned on the rising human [cost of the conflict],” with the chief executive expressing sympathy for innocent lives affected, particularly Muslims who should be observing the sacred month in peace.
The President stressed that such moments serve as a reminder that peace anywhere matters to people everywhere. Thus, assured that the Philippine government continues its efforts to safeguard and strengthen the foundations of peace in the country and emphasized the responsibility to secure a stable future for the next generation.
He also highlighted the values of discipline, humility, and compassion for others that are observed during Ramadan and told that these virtues also contribute to building a stronger nation.
“Ramadan teaches us a powerful lesson in nation-building. A strong nation after all, is built by citizens who have the heart and the discipline to put the welfare of others before their own,” said the President.
In addition, PBBM also reiterated the administration’s support for peace and development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
He shared that progress in the region remains one of the country’s greatest hopes for lasting peace, and added that the journey toward peace and meaningful self-governance requires patience, dialogue, and the willingness to pursue reconciliation.
“Our work is not yet done. We remain steadfast that we will ensure the promise of peace translates into real opportunities for the Bangsamoro people and for all Filipinos,” the President said.
President Marcos added that gatherings such as the Grand Iftar help strengthen solidarity and understanding among Filipinos regardless of faith or cultural background, especially as the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close.
He then expressed hope that Filipinos would remain committed to serving their communities and working together toward a peaceful and inclusive nation. “Together, let us continue building a nation where every Filipino, regardless of faith, culture, or background, will live in dignity, security, and confidence in the future,” he stated.
The President concluded by wishing that the Almighty would accept the prayers and fasting of the faithful and guide the country toward a brighter and more peaceful future.
