Authorities restore Tumblr services in the Philippines

The application and website are once again accessible to users in the country.

In a statement issued on Friday, March 13 (Manila time), social networking platform Tumblr announced that its services in the country have been reinstated.

Huge news! the Republic of the Philippines has officially moved to restore access to Tumblr. Our users in the Philippines should have access restored, if not in the very immediate future,” the first paragraph of its notice read.

It continued, “the Philippine government cited the ‘surge of reports’ in their press release,” attributing the reinstatement to calls from the community.

“In other words, y’all really did that. In closing: we are so back!” furthered the social networking giant.

This development comes nearly three days since the first few reports were made by users in various platforms regarding the blocking of the site, with some even sharing that even the official mobile app was affected.

Recognizant of the concerns raised by the public, the CICC told on Wednesday, March 11, that it is currently investigating the series of reports raised by concerned citizens online regarding the blocking of microblogging and social networking platform Tumblr in the Philippines.

The CICC assures that this matter is being reviewed with priority, and we will provide further updates once the investigation is completed,” it added.
