The two leading women figures in the public sphere have joined forces.
Through social media, Kapamilya news anchor Karen Davila shared her latest out-of-town engagement as part of her role as the UN Women National Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines.
In that activity, she nouned forces with another fellow Kapamilya figure, Pinoy Big Brother host Bianca Gonzalez, who has previously UN Women’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) mission in Tawi-Tawi.
In her post coinciding with the International Women’s Day, Davila emphasized, “WOMEN TODAY, WOMEN EVERYDAY O, bawal bastos ha! Hindi lang today kundi everyday!“
“Today, March 8 is International Women’s Day – spurred by the women’s suffrage movement, we commemorate women’s fight for equality & freedom!”, added the TV Patrol anchor.
She then shared that the activity with Gonzalez happens in Virac, Catanduanes, where they speak to women and girls on the importance of Women Friendly Spaces against gender based violence, as well as the need for reproductive health empowerment for teenage girls and gender responsive care during calamities.
“Meaningful trip in partnership with @unfpaph in giving women in communities a VOICE! Hindi porke’t mahirap ang isang babae, wala siyang proteksyon at karapatan,” added Karen.
