But the Pinay player remains in the championships with her apperance in the next round of the singles event.

On Sunday, March 8, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala teamed up with American netter Iva Jovic in the doubles tournament in of the ongoing BNP Paribas Indian Wells Open in California, U.S.A.

The two battled it out at the Round of 32 match against another pair of players on the opposite side of the court, Hailey Baptiste (USA) and Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia).

From the onset, it was already a tough contest for Eala and Jovic, as Baptiste and Ostapenko took hold of the lead in the first set, which ended 6-2.

That challenge remained a constant for the American-Filipina duo, with them once again ending on the losing side of the scoreboard, 6-2, by the end of the second set.

Ultimately, that spelled the end of the doubles campaign of both Eala and Jovic, with the latter ending her stint in Indian Wells after losing to Camila Osorio in the singles tournament.

Meanwhile, the former, who had just scored a major win in her debut at the said WTA 1000 tournament, still remains as part of the contest.

Alex is set to face her friend and familiar foe on the court, Coco Gauff, on Monday, March 9. That match would mark their rematch since Gauff defeated Eala in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships last February
