It will be a complete and inclusive sports ecosystem for Filipino athletes, according to the government entities.

Last week, officials from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) Group, and Leyte 4th District Representative Richard Gomez, inspected the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.

There, a new 20-hectare world-class multi-sports hub will rise and will become a new training home for Filipino athletes.

10 hectares is planned to be anchored by a new Tennis Center, while the other 10 hectares including an athletes dormitory—the first PSC facility in the site—as well as planned venues for other sports like bowling, basketball, swimming, and more that are still in discussion.

PSC Chairperson Patrick Gregorio noted during the visit, “This is a framework that allows PSC facilities to generate recurring income through sustainable estate and facility management.”

He emphasized, “This ensures stable funding that can be reinvested in national sports development year after year.”

The PSC delegation and Gomez also visited the National Academy of Sports and New Clark City’s existing world-class facilities, such as the Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center, and Athletes’ Village.

Also in the inspection were BCDA Vice President for Strategic Projects Management Engr. Randy Viacrusis, BCDA Vice President and Head for Legislative-Executive Liaison Patrick Roehl Francisco, and MTD Chairperson Isaac David.

The new hub joins the recently launched Bukidnon Regional Training Center in Mindanao, which is part of the government’s move to decentralize training centers in the country and help strengthen grassroot sports.

Meanwhile, aside from this project, the PSC and the BCDA are also partners for another development inside Camp John Hay in Baguio City.
