She also endorsed her in the past election.
At the sidelines of her visit to the Batasang Pambansa Complex to work with the office of Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila De Lima for legislations concerning the environment and animal welfare, actress Nadine Lustre was asked regarding her political view.
Specifically, she was thrown the question on whether she would support former Vice President Leni Robredo, should the current Naga City Mayor run for the Presidency anew in 2028.
That, in turn, stemmed from the statement made by De Lima, where she expressed that Robredo is still the opposition’s strongest bet in the forthcoming general elections.
In response to that question, the People’s President told: “Definitely. There’s no question about that.“
Elaborating on that, the 32-year-old superstar said, “For me, she is really the best candidate for (the) Presidency, so obviously… And also, I supported her way, way back when she ran for the first time, so definitely, I will support her again.“
When it was mentioned that Robredo is still leaning towards running a local post anew, Nadine replied: “Let’s see, well, it’s up to her decision and, obviously, we respect that.
“But… sometimes, the best presidents are those that don’t run. So, we’ll just cross the bridge when we get there, because right now, it’s really hard to say,” she added.
Meanwhile, Lustre, along with her boyfriend Chris Bariou and a group of advocates, joined Rep. De Lima in filing the proposed legislative measures such as the Gulay para sa Kalusugan at Kalikasan Act (House Bill No. 7697), Animal Welfare Enforcement Act (HB 7696), and a Resolution to investigate key environmental issues.
