On Friday, January 23, ACMobility, the Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI)—which exclusively distributes BYD vehicles in the country, as well as the Department of Tourism (DOT), inked a formal partnership.

Called the Drive Electric. Love Pinas campaign, it looks to target travelers to enjoy the country’s sights and sounds by using electric vehicles (EVs), which can then be charged using ACMobility’s ultra-fast charging stations.

An example of this is the feature of Filipino-American vlogger Wil Dasovich, where he will visit some of the country’s key tourism destinations and showcase DOT’s Tourist Rest Areas.

He will also be visiting Michelin-awarded restaurants in the Philippines, which will celebrate local heroes and tourism innovators through BYD platforms.

By integrating electric mobility into tourism circuits, our Tourist Rest Areas across the Philippines and emerging destinations, this partnership applies to those priorities on the ground that strengthen access, support regional dispersal, and allow tourism growth while managing environmental impact,” Secretary Christina Frasco said.

For his part, ACMobility Chief Executive Officer Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala referred tonthe partnership as a “defining moment for sustainable travel in the country.”

Our mission is clear: to make land travel accessible, convenient, and inspiring. By combining ACMoblity Philippines, EV charging spine network, BYD’s world-class electric vehicles, and the DOT’s vision for sustainable tourism, we are creating a seamless ecosystem that powers every journey across the entire country,” he added.

Frasco then underscored, “Together, these efforts support an ecosystem that encourages innovation, strengthens investor confidence, and positions the Philippines as a tourism destination aligned with regional and global sustainability standards.”

She also emphasized that the MOA will fuel local transport services, food establishments, community enterprises, and household incomes linked to the tourism sector.

This tie-up happens a day after ACMobility and the Chinese EV giant renewed their passenger-car distribution agreement in the Philippines, which began in 2023.
