More than a quarter since it suspended its operations.

On Friday, January 23, Filipino cinephiles were greeted with the news of resumption of streaming app JuanFlix’s operations.

The reactivation comes a month after it announced its comeback after hitting the pause just days after it was relaunched as a full-fledged streaming service in September 2025.

Let’s kick off 2026 with the best of Philippine Cinema! This January, we’re bringing you a curated lineup of high-caliber films that showcase the depth, talent, and creativity of Filipino filmmakers,” one of its social media posts alluding to the return read.

As mentioned, JuanFlix offers a library of Filipino movies, including 41 digitally restored Philippine films from the FDCP (Film Development Council of the Philippines) Philippine Film Archive (PFA), 27 original short films from SineKabataan, as well as thesis short films by emerging Filipino filmmakers through a partnership with the Student Film Assistance Program (SFAP).

Moreover, its strand, called FDCP Presents: A Curation of World Cinema, features 9 internationally acclaimed films from around the globe.

The JuanFlix app was first launched as The FDCP Channel portal of the Film Development Council of the Philippines in 2022.

Since its introduction, it has served as a platform for student filmmakers, creatives, and established filmmakers to reach a broader audience for their works. That is reflective of its mission of making “the art of film more accessible to a wider audience.”
