She will be competing along with three other Filipina players in the first tournament.
After her maiden participation at the Australian Open in Melbourne, WTA world no. 49 tennis star Alex Eala made her way back to the country.
This, as the 20-year-old is set to participate in the first-ever Philippine Women’s Open in Manila, a WTA 125 tournament, which will be held at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center from January 26 to 31, 2026.
But she won’t be the lone bearer of the country’s flag this time as she is set to be joined by three other Filipina netters—Tenny Maddis, Kaye Anne Emana, and Elizabeth Abarquez.
In fact, Eala was seen in a photo together with Maddis, as well as another member of SEA Games women’s tennis squad, Stefi Aludo, while training at the venue.
Meanwhile, it was also confirmed on Friday, January 23, that the rising tennis star is set to compete in the main draw event of the upcoming Abu Dhabi Open, which will run from January 31 to February 7.
Alex just came from her successive plays in various tournaments in Oceania at the start of the year, which she kicked off with the ASB Classic in New Zealand, followed by the Kooyong Classic and Australian Open in Australia.
