The network’s news division is launching new programs across various mediums.
Last Saturday, January 17, ABS-CBN News kicked off the year with launch of the revival series of the long-running investigative program SOCO: Scene of the Crime Operative, hosted by veteran journalist Gus Abelgas and joined by reporters Zyann Ambrosio, Dennis Datu, Jeff Caparas, Lyza Aquino, and Jessie Cruzat.
The show debuted on linear broadcast platforms Kapamilya Channel on ALLTV2 and cable, and A2Z, as well as Kapamilya Online Live more than three months after it premiered exclusively on the iWant streaming service.
SOCO is airing every Saturday from 4:30pm to 5:15pm, right before TV Patrol.
But that current affairs show is only the first of the many programs that the Kapamilya news group will launch this year.
New episodes of the supernatural-themed series Possessed: Real Life Stories from Filipino Exorcists, led by actor John Arcilla, premiered on the ABS-CBN News YouTube channel on Tuesday, January 20. This features the spiritual phenomena documented by the Catholic Church.
Rated R: The Rico Hizon Podcast will be led by journalist Rico Hizon, who will have candid, unscripted conversations with viral personalities that challenge viewers’ perspectives starting January 28 on the same YouTube channel.
In Philippine Hometown Stories, ABS-CBN News personalities will return to their respective hometown to offers a closer look at local communities, culture, and everyday life beyond familiar tourist spots.
Premiering on January 29 on the YouTube channel, it will start with Andrea Taguines in Tarlac, followed by Michael Delizo in Imus, Cavite, Dennis Datu in Batangas, and Bea Cuadra in Iloilo.
