In a post on her Instagram account, Kapuso star Gabbi Garcia revealed a health condition that she has long kept from the public’s knowledge.

I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) back in 2018. It’s something I’ve kept to myself for a while,” she told.

The Encantadia actress and Pinoy Big Brother host disclosed this as she looked back on how her own fitness journey began, with her noting that movement became her ‘safe space, release, stress reliever, and reset.

I didn’t start working out to chase a certain body. I started because I wanted to feel strong, healthy, and good in my own skin,” she wrote.

Gabbi then said that while she had been diagnosed awhile back, it was only about 3 years ago, when she finally “pushed” herself to move and “to show up” for her body and “take care of it instead of fighting it.”

Yes, mabilis din akong tumaba. Minsan mataba ako sa TV, oo nakikita ko kahit todo workout na ko. Minsan naman okay ako if hindi bloated lol. But yes, there are a lot of days when I feel bloated, days with a moon face, the “PCOS belly,” and everything else that comes with it,” the actress-host continued.

The 27-year-old also added that she is now at a point in her life that she is contented with herself as long as she is strong and healthy.

And now, I’m at a point kung san basta strong and healthy ako, okay na ako. Kaya kong tumakbo. Kaya kong magbuhat. Kaya ko sarili ko. Being “sexy” the way society defines it is honestly the least of my priorities.”

This journey, according to her, also taught her “body positivity in the truest sense” and “to be kinder” to her body by listening to it, and to appreciate everything it allows her to do.

Not perfect. Just better. Still learning. Still showing up. If this is your journey too, be kinder to yourself. You’re not alone,” she ended her post.

Many other women were inspired by her post, with some even sharing their own experiences in the replies section, which has now garnered nearly 40,000 likes.
