Following stories from netizens that have made rounds on social media.
On Wednesday, December 17, Filipino snack chain Potato Corner shared on its online pages a statement in response to the accounts shared by some users on Threads.
The said post, which had already gone viral on social media, claimed to be a story of a “friend” of the original writer.
In which, he alleged that his friend applied to be a franchisee and prepared a proposal for a specific location. Later on, a Potato Corner suddenly opened on that very same spot.
Another shared in the replies that an independent franchisee’s branch inside a mall had to shut down after their franchise was not renewed. However, it later surprised them that a company-owned store would later be opened inside the same mall.
To answer these, Potato Corner said, “Recently, concerns have been raised about how our franchise locations are selected. We hear you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.“
It continued, “At Potato Corner, we take these matters very seriously. We want to clarify that incidents like these do not align with our values, standards, and policies.“
The company also said that its franchisees are their “partners,” and the chain’s growth has always been built on “shared success.”
“We do not take actions that intentionally disadvantage the very entrepreneurs who help grow our brand,” added Potato Corner.
Following this development, their team has immediately reached out privately to the individuals who raised the issue to verify the details and act on the claims.
“While we have not received any response, our lines remain open should they wish to engage. Together with our internal investigation, we hope to address these concerns properly,” it furthered.
PotCor also assured its franchise community that preventive controls and measures are in place to ensure effective and appropriate site selection for our valued franchisees.
To end, it worte, “We remain committed to fair, respectful, and responsible practices, ensuring win-win outcomes across the Potato Corner community.“
