Marking the return of all flagship Kapamilya shows to their original home on free TV.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 17, ABS-CBN Corporation announced another major shake-up, not only for the company, but for Philippine television.
This, as the media giant announced the inking of its licensing agreement with Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), which owns the free-to-air station ALLTV.
According to ABS-CBN, the frequency operated by Manny Villar will begin broadcasting the Kapamilya Channel, which is currently exclusive to pay TV subscribers at the moment, starting January 2, 2026.
“Starting on this date, ALLTV audiences will be able to watch their favorite ABS-CBN shows like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Roja, What Lies Beneath, It’s Showtime, ASAP, TV Patrol, and more,” the company revealed.
Despite that, prime ABS-CBN programs will continue to be available on A2Z, with It’s Showtime and Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab 2.0 airing on GMA.
ABS-CBN X AMBS
This marks another chapter in the relationship between ABS-CBN and AMBS, which began when ALLTV first signed on in September 2022 and acquired classic ABS-CBN dramas—with titles like Doble Kara and Ngayon at Kailanman—and reaired these shows as part of the daily schedule.
Following the cancellation of all original programming on its station, AMBS forged a woder partnership with ABS-CBN in April 2024, which paved the way for the return of TV Patrol, It’s Showtime, and Magandang Buhay to their old home at channel 2.
Also included in that original deal were iconic Kapamilya shows under the Jeepney TV sa ALLTV block.
NO MORE OUTSTANDING FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS WITH TV5
The announcement comes weeks after it was revealed that its current television partner, TV5, decided to terminate its supposed five-year-deal with ABS-CBN effective January 2, 2026.
According to the Kapamilya network, it has since settled its financial obligations with TV5, an amount which it did not disclose.
It wrote in the statement, “The move comes after TV5’s decision to terminate the Content Agreement effective 2 January 2026. ABS-CBN has settled its obligations with TV5/Mediaquest in accordance with each party’s agreements.”
Furthermore, “We thank Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan and TV5 for providing a home for some ABS-CBN programs since 2021.”
Lastly, ABS-CBN expressed its commitment to serving its audiences by “bringing stories, news, and entertainment that bring love, joy, and hope to Filipino families.”
