Tourism officials meet with incoming PH Ambassadors to Brazil, Mexico

On Thursday, October 9, Department of Tourism (DOT) officials, led by Sec. Christina Frasco, met with Hon. Arvin de Leon and Hon. Patrick John Hilado, the incoming Philippine Ambassadors to Mexico and Brazil, respectively.

During the courtesy call held at the DOT Central Office, Frasco congratulated the newly designated ambassadors and highlighted the vital role of foreign posts in expanding the Philippines’ global connections and tourism opportunities.

They also held discussions on ongoing and potential collaborations to boost the Philippines’ presence in the Latin American market, particularly in tourism promotion, aviation connectivity, and cultural exchange programs.

Moreover, the meeting also covered updates on tourism cooperation and bilateral frameworks that aim to foster knowledge sharing, sustainable tourism development, joint campaigns, as well as Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) collaborations.

The meeting was in line with the agency’s vision of strengthening tourism linkages and explore investment opportunities between the Philippines and Latin America.

The Tourism chief likewise expressed her optimism in deepening tourism cooperation and strengthening the people-to-people ties with these nations, noting the shared history between the Philippines and the countries of Mexico and Brazil.
