And it could have been the crucial part of the said portion.
On Saturday, September 13, a gaffe that might have caused noontime program ‘It’s Showtime’ a major trouble was discovered by main host Vice Ganda.
In the jackpot round of the ‘Laro Laro Pik’ segment, a contestant is asked to choose between taking a consolation prize or take the risk and answer a question that if they answer correctly, will mean the pot of cash.
During that edition, participant Kath opted to go the safe route and take home the consolation prize worth PHP50,000.
But in the spirit of fairness, the supposed question was revealed by Vice. However, that was when she discovered a glaring mistake.
The question read: “Ano ang alias o pen name ng bayaning si Gregorio del Pilar na mula sa binalasang mga letra ng kanyang apelyido?“
The problem is that Gregorio is known as the “Boy General” that bears the nickname Goyo derived from his first name.
Instead, the actual person that should have been asked was Marcelo H. Del Pilar, who is also known as Plaridel.
Upon being informed by the staff of the issue, Vice immediately issued an on-air apology.
“Humihingi po ako ng tawad sa inyong lahat. Mali. Gayunpaman, buti na lamang talaga at hindi mo pinili [itong tanong],” Vice said to contestant.
She then doubled the prize to PHP100,000 and as a sign of humility, Vice also took a bow and apologized for the lapse.
