The end of the one-month-long period is scheduled on Monday, Philippine time.
In a video message addressed to Filipinos abroad, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to vote online for the 2025 National and Local Elections.
He assured OFWs that the online voting would be convenient and accessible, and that their votes would be counted securely and efficiently.
“Ngayon mas madali na ang pagboto kahit nasaan kayo sa mundo. Hindi na kailangan pumila o bumiyahe. Sa pamamagitan ng online voting, maipapahayag ninyo ang inyong boses nang mabilis, ligtas, at maayos,” Marcos, Jr. said.
The official overseas voting period began last April 13, 2025 and will close in tandem with local polling stations on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 7:00 pm (Philippine Standard Time).
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang overseas voting para sa Halalan 2025. Ito po ang inyong pagkakataon na makilahok sa kinabukasan ng ating bayan,” the President furthered.
Meanwhile, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac echoed the PBBM’s sentiments, encouraging them to participate in the democratic process of choosing the country’s next leaders.
“We urge our kababayans to exercise their right to vote and help shape the future of our nation. Rest assured that the DMW stands ready to providing all the necessary assistance and support to OFWs and their families amid the midterm elections,” Cacdac said.
In relation to the current election and bans, Secretary Cacdac assured OFWs and their families of continued assistance and services, as the COMELEC exempted its key welfare and reintegration programs from the election spending ban.
Included in the exempted services are distribution of assistance through the AKSYON Fund, reintegration programs, OFW local employment facilitation programs and overseas job fairs, and other support initiatives of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
