Mt. Kanlaon emits voluminous ash anew

Activity continues at the volcano.

At 11:52 am on Monday, April 14, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) monitored the ash emission at Mt. Kanlaon on Negros Island, central Philippines.

According to the agency, the volcano emitted voluminous ash plumes as tall as 800m from the summit crater.

Ash was then drifted in the west-northwestward direction from the area, with residents in the towns of La Carlota City, Bago City, and nearby towns having warned about ashfall.

The first activity lasted until 2:12 pm, with PHIVOLCS adding that Alert Level 3 remains raised over Kanlaon.

However, within the hour, at 2:53 pm, a second emission event began at the volcano, this time, generating a voluminous ash plume as tall as 600 meters from the summit crater.

It was last Tuesday, April 8, when Kanlaon had a a moderately explosive eruption, which lasted 56 minutes and gray voluminous plume having rose to a height of 4 kilometers above the vent.
