On Thursday, March 20, Malacañang confirmed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has selected a new secretary for the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to replace Ivan John Uy, who resigned earlier this month.

Prior to landing the role at the DICT, Aguda previously served as the Digital Infrastructure Lead at the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), which was created by President Marcos to assist his administration in fostering innovative synergies between the private and public sectors.
Aguda’s experience spans the banking, technology and telecommunications sectors, as he also served as the board chairman of both City Savings Bank and UBX Philippines.
His tenure at Unionbank went as high as the company’s senior executive vice president.
He also was part of Insular Health Care as its director, BancNet, Philippine Clearing House Corporation, Globe Telecom, Digitel, Bayantel Communication, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Digitel, and Meralco.
Aguda completed his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree at the University of the Philippines, graduating as cum laude in both instances.
He also took graduate studies in Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, Strategic Alliance Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and master’s degree in Applied Business Economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific, which is still in progress.
