In an announcement on Wednesday, March 5, Korean music label Pledis Entertainment shared that K-pop star Wonwoo of the boy band SEVENTEEN will be enlisting in the mandatory military service soon.
“We would like to share the news that Wonwoo of SEVENTEEN will be starting his mandatory military service from April 3 this year,” the company wrote in its statement as translated by Soompi.
In line with this development, it was also explained that he will be absent from the group’s upcoming engagements, such as the Tecate Pa’l Norte 2025 festival in Mexico and fan meeting in Japan.
Although, days prior to his enlistment, Wonwoo will be participating in the ‘SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND’ concert, scheduled to happen on March 20 to 21.
Likewise, the rapper will also be appearing in the pre-recorded content to be uploaded on the band’s channels.
Despite this, there will be no official event on his enlistment day, with Pledis requesting fans to refrain from visiting the site of his alternative service.
Wonwoo is the second SEVENTEEN member to comply with South Korea’s mandatory conscription for men, with Jeonghan having started his term last September 2024.
Tne K-pop star was also in the Philippines during the group’s ‘Right Here’ concert in Bulacan last January.
