The Vatican shared it in the latest update about the Pontiff.
In a bulletin in the morning of Tuesday, March 4 (local time), the Holy See Press Office disclosed that Pope Francis was able to sleep through the night and is continuing his rest.
This, as the ailing 88-year-old Catholic church leader went on with his respiratory therapy and physiotherapy, as he also resumed high-flow ventilation through a hose to his nasal cannula for oxygen.
He had also devoted his Tuesday morning for prayer.
This news comes after it was reported on Monday night (Vatican time) that the Pope had two episodes of “acute respiratory insufficiency,” which was said to have been caused by the growth of endobronchial mucus and consequent bronchospasm.
For both instances, bronchoscopies were performed to remove the buildup.
Pope Francis was hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital last February 14 for bronchitis, which was later updated to double/bilateral pneumonia.
