In a teaser released on February 13, TV5 and Studio Viva jointly announced the upcoming return of reality-based artista search, ‘Artista Academy.’
As previously announced, Julia Barretto will serve as the host of the season, with the panel of judges yet to be revealed.
Originally aired in 2012, ‘Artista Academy’ was touted as the biggest search of its time, with the grand prize amounting to Php 20 million for the winning pair.
Its first season was hosted by Cesar Montano and Marvin Agustin, with the judges composed of Lorna Tolentino, Gelli de Belen, former TV5 chief content officer Wilma Galvante, and director Mac Alejandre.
Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica, who later developed an off-screen romance, were declared winners of the inaugural season.
Other notable alums of ‘Artista Academy’ are Shaira Diaz, Mark Neumann, Akihiro Blanco, Chanel Morales, and Malak So.
After the show, the Top 16 contenders were given their break by appearing in various TV5 shows.
Sophie and Vin topbilled the series ‘Never Say Goodbye’ with none other than National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Nora Aunor.
The second season of ‘Artista Academy’ is expected to air in early 2025.
