She bested 24 other contenders during the pageant.
On Monday, February 10, Filipina beauty queen Dia Mate was crowned Reina Hispanoamerica 2025 in the competition held in Bolivia.
With this win, Mate becomes the second contestant from the Philippines to win the pageant, a feat first made by Winwyn Marquez back in 2017.
Named Virreina (vice-queen) was Sofía Fernandez of Venezuela.
Other members of the “royal court” are (in chronological order) Sharon Gamarra (Colombia), 1st runner-up; Carolina Barroso (Spain), 2nd runner-up; Nikita Palma (Peru), 3rd runner-up; Julia de Castro (Brazil), 4th runner-up; Zuzanna Balonek (Polan), 5th runner-up.
Following her win, Mate was greeted by the likes of her current partner, singer-actor JK Labajo, who took to Instagram to share his lengthy message.
“You’ve carried our flag with such grace and elegance, and we are all so proud to have you represent our country on the international stage, inspiring the younger generation and being the voice for all the causes you stand up for,” part of JK’s post read.
Our first Reina Hispanoamerica, Winwyn Marquez, also shared her congratulatory note to Dia via Instagram stories.
“OMG! I am so happy! Congrats, Reina [Dia Mate],” she wrote.
In a following post, Marquez recalled her previous encounter with Dia, “I knew it. Unang usap palang namin, alam ko[ng] mananalo siya,” she said.
Dia Mate, 22, first joined Miss Universe Philippines 2024, but did not make the first cut.
She later continued her pageant journey when she joined Miss World Philippines 2024, where she was given the national Reina Hispanoamericana title.
