The Kapatid news personality is taking on a new role within the news channel.
By the end of the show’s broadcast on Friday, February 7, plenty of developments were revealed on ‘The Big Story’ of Cignal TV channel One News.
Foremost, anchor Gretchen Ho signed off from the program for the final time, as she is set to move to the revamped morning block on Monday, February 10.
Ho was sent off by her fellow anchors Shawn Yao and Regina Lay, who also confirmed that ‘The Big Story’ will transfer to an earlier time slot at 7:30 pm on Monday, February 17.
Moreover, Lay also confirmed her “graduation” from the nightly program in three weeks’ time, as she herself will be reassigned to a new show.
As for Ho’s replacement in ‘The Big Story,’ Media Newser earlier reported that Pauline Versoza, who had been a frequent pinch-hitter in the program, will become the new third anchor starting Monday.
Back to Gretchen, she teased her new One News program ‘Morning Matters’ during her finals spiels on ‘TBS.’
“I’m excited to bring you the news and interviews and the morning. It’s a one-hour show [and we’ve] got the news and we will strive to get the candidates in our studio and ask them the hard questions,” Ho said.
‘Morning Matters’ is one of the three new programs that One News will introduce for the second Monday of the month.
The slate that includes ‘Money Talks’ with Cathy Yang at 9:30 am and ‘News and Views’ with Angela and Angelo Castro at 10:00 am.
Gretchen originally joined ‘The Big Story’ as Roby Alampay’s co-anchor upon her move to the Kapatid network in 2021.
Following a relaunch in April 2023, she was later joined by Regina Lay and Shawn Yao, making ‘TBS’ the only primetime newscast in the Philippines to have three lead female anchors during the course of this era.
Ho’s forthcoming move to the One News morning block marks her return to the daytime slot, which started with ‘Mornings@ANC,’ followed by ‘Umagang Kay Ganda,’ ‘Frontline Sa Umaga,’ and ‘Gud Morning Kapatid.’
