This is part of cuts in the office after it received a lower funding for 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, January 15, the Office of the Vice President shared that it will be suspending some programs of the agency.
“There is no approved budget for the Medical and Burial Assistance Program of the Office of the Vice President under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA). We apologize for the inconvenience,” the announcement read.
This move comes after the office received Php 733 million in the 2025 GAA, over a billion below its proposed Php 2.037 billion budget for the year.
Apart from these, the OVP’s financial assistance program will also likely be impacted, as the agency said that there is no line item for such in its approved budget.
The cut came after the much-publicized scrutiny by both houses of Congress over the utilitization of fund by the OVP, which is under the leadership of Vice President Sara Duterte.
