This has been confirmed during a recent episode of the newscast’s main edition.
On Monday, December 30, anchor Bernadette Sembrano made suprise greeting on-air directed toward one of her co-anchors that evening, Adrian Ayalin.
“Congrats pala, Adrian, ha, [para doon] sa [TV Patrol] weekend,” she said during her extro spiels for that edition.
“Uy, Ate B,” Ayalin reacted in jest, while his now official weekend co-anchor Zen Hernandez joked “[k]ailangan muna may libre-libre eh.”
The highlight of the episode has since been uploaded by the official press relations team of ABS-CBN, confirming the news.
They have also revealed that Adrian will begin his new role as the permanent co-anchor of the Philippines’ longest-running weekend newscast on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Adrian Ayalin has been a longtime ABS-CBN News reporter, starting his tenure at the network in 2004, after moving from IBC where he kickstarted his media career in 2000.
Last August, main edition anchor Henry Omaga-Diaz departed ‘TV Patrol’ to migrate to Canada, which prompted the promotion of former ‘TV Patrol Weekend’ anchor Alvin Elchico to the weekday newscast.
In September, ABS-CBN News began its experiment to find Hernandez’s new co-anchor, where both Ayalin and another reporter, Johnson Manabat, took turns in presenting the show.
