The no. 1 Filipina netter emerged victorious in the recent event.
Junior netter Tennielle “Tenny” Madis swept the recent J60 ITF Manila singles and doubles championships that was held at Rizal Tennis Memorial Center in Manila last Sunday, December 8.
In the girls’ singles final game, the Filipino top seed dominated No. 2 Jiyun Oh from South Korea 6-2, 7-6(5) to secure her sixth singles title for 2024. Just this Saturday, in the semi-finals round, Madis bested Russia’s Alexandra Cheishvili 6-0, 6-4.
The latest feat boosts Madis’ ranking within the global Top 300.
She previously conquered the singles category in J30 PHINMA Makati City Weeks 1 and 2 last July, along with J60 Colombo (Sri Lanka) in September, and J60 Nonthaburi (Thailand) in October.
Tenny Maddis said that in “[t]he past weeks have been so challenging yet fun not just as a tennis player but as a Filipino athlete. It is an honor to bring pride to our country through the sport I love.”
Madis also scored her fifth doubles title for the year during the tournament with her Philippine Tennis Academy teammate Stefi Marithe Aludo after defeating Thai-Taiwanese duo Tarita Hongsyok and Yu Tsen Ko 6-1, 6-3.
“We thank our coach Bobie Angelo and the PTA staff for patiently guiding us the past months. We also thank the Academy’s Founder and President Rommie Chan and Chairman Oscar Hilado for inspiring us to keep doing our best,” said Madis and Aludo.
