The program will take six years to complete.
In an announcement on Monday, November 4, Singapore Airlines (SIA) said that it will be investing SG$1.1 billion in a multi-year program that will see the installation of all-new long-haul cabin products across its 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircrafts.
The flag-carrier of Singapore divulged that it will be introducong a “luxurious First Class cabin in its 7 A350-900ULR aircraft” with a design that serve “increasingly discerning travellers” in some of the longest flight routes in world.
Meanwhile, the business class cabin in all its 41 aircraft will be getting enhanced “privacy, comfort, and convenience.”
The airline told that “[t]hese A350-900 First Class and Business Class products are designed from the ground up, with a spacious layout and ergonomic elements that cater to every customer’s needs,” and will feature the same seat designs on its upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft.
Additionally, the Premium Economy and Economy classes will also be refreshed.
“Over the past six years, we have extensively engaged customers and stakeholders in the design of our next-generation long-haul cabin products, anticipating their evolving preferences and expectations down to the finest detail,” Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong said.
He also said that Tmthe S$1.1 billion investment in the retrofitting program “reaffirms Singapore Airlines’ unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience.”
The A350 fleet will be retrofitted by the SIA Engineering Company in Singapore, with the first refurbished A350-900 long-haul aircraft expected to enter service by the second quarter of 2026.
Meanwhile, the first A350-900ULR variant will follow in the first quarter of 2027 and the entire program is slated to be completed by the end of 2030.
Moreover, by the end of the program, a total of 34 A350-900 long-haul planes will be configured with 42 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy Class seats, and 192 Economy Class seats.
The seven A350-900ULR variants will then feature 4 First Class seats, 70 Business Class seats, and 58 Premium Economy Class seats.
