Scrubs out for Dra. Santos as she finally ends her two-year-long “operation.”

On Saturday, October 19, GMA’s long-running afternoon series ‘Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap’ aired its 659th and final episode.

In the finale of ‘AKNP,’ Moira (portrayed by Pinky Amador) attempted to continue her plan to eradicate Lyneth (Carmina Villaroel) by putting her inside a room with oxygen tanks and bombs.

After an altercation, Lyneth injected an anesthesia that Moira’s henchmen brought to the room during the penultimate episode. After which, Lyneth and RJ (Richard Yap) have escaped Moira.

Just before the couple reunited with Analyn (Jillian Ward), a numbed Moira accidentally detonated the time bomb that she planted inside that room.

Although, after the explosion, RJ, Lyneth, Analyn were reunited with Giselle (Dina Bonnevie) and all the other doctors and nurses of Apex.

Later on, Zoey (Kazel Kinouchi) positively identified her mom Moira’s burned body when it was retrieved by authorities. In the next part of the episode, she had also turned herself in to authorities for being complicit to her mother’s crimes.

Jumping to five years later, Dra. Analyn Santos began serving as a doctor in a community hospital, while RJ and Lyneth have finally decided to tie the knot.

In the last few minutes, the doctor meets a young child who reminded her how she began her quest and dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.

‘AKNP’ made its debut exactly two years ago as a medical drama for Afternoon Prime, and since then, it has managed to stay on top of the TV ratings board for the block, and at times, even creating all-time high records that trumped the figures registered by those of the network’s primetime dramas.

Additionally, it holds the record of being the longest-running self-produced drama of GMA Network in the 2000s.

‘Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap’ also saw the network’s many changes in the noontime slot, which started with ‘Eat Bulaga,’ followed by the post-TVJ iteration of the TAPE-produced show, and ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya,’ before ‘It’s Showtime’ simulcast on GMA started in April 2024.

The series also faced some controversies, such as the first instance in the earlier part of its run, where Analyn’s behavior in the emergency room during a case caused uproar in the medical community.

It is slated to be replaced by ‘Forever Young,’ starring child star Euwenn Mikaell, Michael de Mesa, and Nadine Samonte, among others. Although, its actual time slot will be occupied by ‘Lilet Matias: Attorney-At-Law,’ which will be airing from Monday to Saturday at 2:30 pm starting October 21.
