TV5 moves ‘Gud Morning Kapatid’ time slot; refreshes daytime block

The morning show is moving to sunrise as part of the major daytime shake-up of the network.

TV5’s ‘Gud Morning Kapatid’ will finally be joining viewers rising up-and-early — especially those making their breakfast or prepare for school and work — as the show is set to make the move to its earliest time slot in its history on Monday, October 21.

‘GuMoKa’ will be airing from 5:30 am until 8:00 am — expanding its current 75-minute airtime to two-and-a-half hours.

It will continue to be presented by the current roster of hosts composed of Chiqui Roa-Puno, Dimples Romana, and Maoui David. Original program hosts Jes delos Santos and Justin Quirino, meanwhile, are leaving the program.

Ruth Cabal and Andrei Felix of ‘Frontline Sa Umaga’ will also continue delivering morning news through the reformatted show.

Plus, the show has also revealed that the tandem of Ted Failon and DJ Chacha will be added to its growing squad.

They are going on-board from 6:30 am to 7:00 am for the News5 segment of the duo’s eponymous show, which runs on Radyo5 True FM, One PH, and RPTV from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.

With this move, ‘GuMoKa’ will finally go head-to-head with GMA and the Philippines’ longest-running morning show ‘Unang Hirit,’ which also broadcasts from 5:30 am to 8:00 am.

Prior to which, TV5’s last attempt at challenging ‘UH’ in the said slot was the straight news program ‘Frontline Sa Umaga’ with original anchors Paolo Bediones and Marga Vargas from May to October 2021.

Since then, the network has elected to air a simulcast of ‘Ted Failon at DJ Chacha sa Radyo5’ from 6:00 am to 7:00 am, a practice that lasted until March 2024 when the free-to-air broadcast of the show completely shifted to RPTV.

NEW TV5 DAYTIME

Alongside the refreshed ‘GuMoKa,’ TV5 will also likewise overhaul its entire daytime block from Monday, October 21.

After ‘Gud Morning Kapatid,’ a shortened TV5 Kids block will air between 8:00 am and 9:15 am. Immediately following that will be the ‘Cine Cinco’ movie block that will air until ‘Ang Himala Ni Niño’ kicks off at 11:15 am.

At 2:30 pm, the new game show ‘Quizmosa’ hosted by Ogie Diaz will make its premiere right after ‘Eat Bulaga’ in the Hapon Champion block.
