A new season is in the horizon for the long-running talent program.
On Tuesday, October 15, ABS-CBN aired the first teaser for the upcoming season of the franchised reality-talent competition ‘Pilipinas Got Talent.’
Alongside that, the online audition guidelines for ‘PGT 7’ were also announced, with interested parties instructed to upload 1 to 2 minute videos through the dedicated microsite at JoinNow.
As of the moment, no further details have been revealed relating to the new season of the show, including the target broadcast date, host/s, and the panel of judges.
Licensed from content company Fremantle, the format made its way to the Philippines in 2010 and was originally hosted by Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford.
The original panel of judges were formed by Kris Aquino, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and former ABS-CBN general manager Freddie M. Garcia, with the composition lasting until the fourth season of the show in 2013.
It went to become a highly-successful program, and produced acts like Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, and El Gamma Penumbra, to name a few.
In 2016, the show had a change, with both Kris and Ai-Ai not becoming part of the fifth season, as they have both left ABS-CBN at that point.
Freddie Garcia was then joined by now-Senator Robin Padilla, Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin in the panel.
It aired its last fresh season in 2018, the year when Kristel de Catallina was named champion. By then, Billy Crawford was joined by Toni Gonzaga, who had taken over the MC role from original co-host Luis Manzano.
During the COVID-19 lockdowns, ABS-CBN re-aired the show as a filler, but that was cut short due to the broadcast network’s shutdown in May 2020.
In 2023, past episodes and highlights of the program were posted through the official channels of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ on Facebook and YouTube, signifying the network’s continued association with the talent show.
It was also rumored to be making its comeback that same year, as during TV5’s trade launch for its 2023 line-up, it had already been confirmed that ‘PGT’ will be returning for season 7 this year. But the official airing date was not revealed.
Until now, ABS-CBN did not make any comment confirming or denying any plans regarding ‘Pilipinas Got Talent.’
